United Bank names advisory directors

United Bank President Thomas Kephart announced the addition of two local business leaders to its Covington Advisory Board. Anne Laster and Steven Kapp joined the board in their first meeting earlier in October.

Laster is a former community banker with 50 years of experience. She lives in Covington with her husband, Monty, and has one child and one grandchild. She has volunteered for the Covington-Newton County United Fund, The Learning Center, Newton County Chamber of Commerce and Covington-Newton County Clean and Beautiful. She enjoys volunteering at South Salem elementary school weekly.

Steve Kapp is President of Sunbelt Builders in Covington, specializing in commercial building projects, including medical facilities and heavy industrial. Steve and his wife, Louly, reside in Newton County and are members of the Covington First Presbyterian Church. He currently serves on the Oxford College Alumni Board and supports Habitat for Humanity, the Covington Family YMCA, and other city and county organizations.

As directors on United Bank’s Advisory Board, these successful professionals will provide input to the Bank’s local leadership regarding financial products, services and community involvement, in addition to serving as a bank ambassador and liaison between the Bank and the Newton community.
