More hiring for local manufacturer

Local metal manufacturer Vestar Technologies is planning to hire 75 employees during the next two years to greatly expand on its current workforce of 14 employees.

The company, which manufactures specialty metal products used in high-tech industries, including semiconductor and LED lighting, is hiring employees through ResourceMFG, a national staffing company specialize in manufacturing, according to plant manager Ron Bakos. No jobs in Covington appeared to be posted on ResourceMFG's website as of Tuesday, but according to the company's website, vestartechnologies.com/current.html, the company had openings for a spinning lathe machinist, vertical lathe machinist, supervisor, CNC operator - machinist, CNC programmer set-up machinist and engineer.

Bakos said the majority of employees are currently from Newton County. As for the company's management and research and development positions, Bakos said some were recruit locally and others came from out of the area.
Vestar Technologies is located on Prater Drive in Lochridge Industrial Park.
