Two new businesses are coming to Covington, expanding local options for food and edible gifts.
The ribbon cutting for Jersey Mike’s sub shop is scheduled for July 22 at 10 a.m. on Industrial Blvd Covington.
The local franchise has partnered with the Covington Family YMCA for their Grand Opening Fundraiser.
For the first five days following the grand opening, Jersey Mike’s team will go into the community to distribute free sandwich coupons offering a free sub with a $1 donation to the local YMCA.
Owner Chris Brown said he was so inspired by the world the YMCA does, he intends to match whatever is raised.
“Jersey Mike’s has a long history of giving back to the community and that’s how we celebrate all of our grand openings across the country,” said Brown, adding the money will likely go towards supporting a variety of programs, including summer camp and after school programs.
He said he chose Covington for its proximity to Athens and Atlanta, and the “business friendly” environment.
“It’s been a pleasure to build this store,” he said.
Two doors down, Edible Arrangements is also preparing to welcome new customers, although the exact date of opening is unknown at this time.
