More than three dozen local businesses and restaurants will come together for the second annual Taste of Newton at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13 on the third floor of the Newton County Administrative Building, 1113 Usher Street, Covington.
Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased at the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber President Hunter Hall has high expectations for the event.
"Ultimately, it's an opportunity for us to showcase food and businesses here in Newton County and let the general public know all of the great opportunities we have right here, locally," said Hall, noting last year's Taste of Newton was successful, with about 250 people in attendance.
The location of the event was originally to be at the former Mayfield's building on the square, but it was moved to a room on the third floor of the Newton County Administrative Building. According to the chamber's membership director Lisa Baker, the location is perfect for the event and has a beautiful view of downtown.
Attendees will receive a punch card upon arrival to the event and can use it to visit the stations at the event. Everyone will have an opportunity to sample food and gain information about each restaurant and other businesses. The event will feature live music performed by Brian Barnard.

There will be 18 restaurants catering at the event, including: Amici's, Bradley's BBQ, Bullritos, Chick-fil-A, Cowboy's BBQ, Donut King, Double Dips, Johnny's Pizza, Just Dogs, Scoops, Mango Tango, Noring Farms on Floyd, Perk Up & Wine Down, RL's, Square Perk, Southern Heartland Art, Sweet Treats, Village Grille and Where There's Smoke.

In addition, there will be 22 businesses in attendance with presentations and information about their services, including: Alcovy Fitness, Angie's Cleaning, Apollo, Bank of North Georgia, Benton House, Berry's Christmas Tree Farm, BJ's, Bizzy Bee, Current Events, GameTime, H & R Block, Liberty Manual, Newton Electric, Newton Federal, Peachtree Academy, Perimeter Pest Management, Precision Locksmith, Right at Home, Small Business Committee, SunCrest Home Health, The Oaks, United Bank and the Y.

The event is being sponsored by Alcovy Fitness and Wellness and Charter Communications.
