Career Expo to be Sept. 26

ATLANTA – The Veterans Unit at the Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) DeKalb Career Center and Goodwill of North Georgia’s Decatur Career Center will assist Mount Welcome Missionary Baptist Church with a career expo on Sept. 26 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at the church, located at 581 Parker Ave. in Decatur.

While the event is open to the public, its focus is to assist military veterans with their employment needs.

The expo will feature about 25 employers, educational institutions and resource agencies that provide assistance to job seekers. The employers will be hiring or discussing current and future employment opportunities, while other organizations will provide education and other resources.

Those expected to participate include: AARP; AFLAC; Apollo Ventures; Argosy University; Avon; Care Master Medical Services; Comcast Telesales; Decatur Cooperative Ministry; DeKalb County Police Department; DeKalb Workforce Development; Department of Juvenile Justice; Department of Veterans Administration – Atlanta Veterans Center; Family Bridge Healthcare Services; Georgia Department of Driver Services; Goodwill of North Georgia – Human Resources; Hire Dynamics; New Horizons; Newell Recycling; Primerica; Shorter University; and Teachers ‘R Us Staffing.

Applicants should bring plenty of résumés and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available jobs. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for employment.
