The Newton County Board of Commissioners will discuss the controversial lawn maintenance contract at a special called meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse.
The board approved a 5-year contract renewal with longtime provider Durden’s Lawn Maintenance at the board’s Feb. 5 meeting, but it then discovered that the company had been operating without a current business license and had done so frequently for periods of time in the past as well.
It’s unclear what action the board will take, as they did not address the issue at their last meeting on Feb. 19.
