Spicing it up: Newton County High School FFA Show Team member Jacquelyn Leissa, a junior, smiles with joy moments after the announcment that she and her heifer named Cinnamon were the winners of Cattle Showmanship category at the 2009 Newton County Classic Livestock Show Saturday on the campus of Newton High School. About 40 competitors from the Eastside High School, Alcovy High School and Newton High School FFA clubs as well as Newton County 4-H members participated in the annual countywide livestock competition held in the Livestock barn at Newton High School. Students show cattle and swine in showmanship and market class categories and are also judged in record book category. Lunch was available for attendees. Cakes baked by each club as well as a mountain bike were auctioned. The top winners received custom belt buckles and will advance to the Georgia National Junior Livestock Show, which will be held from Feb. 18 through 22 in Perry.
