Anyone interested in checking out bikes and wheels around the downtown square will have the opportunity to do so at a Bike Fest Sunday.
Even though the deadline to register to be a vendor for the event has passed, organizers said people can still participate the day of the event.
Randy Carden, an event organizer for Bike Fest on the Square, is encouraging the community to attend. The show contains four bike shows, lots of food and music.
Carden said that it’s not too late for anyone still interested in being a vendor for the event. Simply call him at 770-280-7072 for more information on registering, and pay $50 at the gate the day of the event.
Carden said the winner of the bike show will receive a trophy and all the proceeds raised will go to the St. Jude Research Hospital.
“We do this for the children; we want the children to feel very good about themselves,” Carden said.
The event, which was organized in Memphis, Tenn., first took place on the Covington square last year. Bike Fest takes place twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall.
The fall event is set to be held Sunday, Oct. 13.
Carden also said even though the event was organized in Memphis a few years back, he did not get involved until just recently last year.
“I did it to because it’s a lot of fun and it helps the children,” Carden said. “It brings people from all over on motorcycles, who have money, so this could help other businesses around the square as well and not just the Bike Show.”
Bike Fest is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All vendors are encouraged to arrive between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. All automobiles will have to be off the square by 10 a.m.
“All cars off by 10; no exceptions,” Carden said.
For more information about the Bike Fest, please call Carden at 770-280-7072.
“We just want everyone to come out, pay their money and have a great time,” Carden said.
