Benton House of Covington assisted living has a special community tradition that gives senior residents the opportunity to sparkle, smile and shine in the spotlight. Saturday, May 19 marked the third annual Ms. Benton House pageant at the assisted living community that is home to around sixty seniors in Covington. Director of Activities Betty Britt coordinated this event. Britt said seven lovely seniors all over the age of seventy-five answered questions from three local judges on topics like the best advice for young mothers and the contestants modeled sparkly gowns. The 2012 Contestants include residents:

Britt said, "Residents and volunteers both look forward to this event. Moby in the Morning from 106.1 WNGC agreed to be our Master of Ceremonies and residents always look forward to music from Bobby Don Bloodworth and his Go-Pher Broke Band."
Naomi Binder was crowned the 2012 Ms. Benton House and she wore a lovely light purple floor length gown with rhinestone jewelry. Binder says she borrowed her pageant dress from a friend and she thinks the dress brought her good luck. Master of Ceremonies Moby shares he has been volunteering at Benton House of Covington yearly pageants because he realizes the importance of caring for older generations and he values the time spent each year with the Benton House residents. Moby said, "There's something extra amazing about the 2012 Ms. Benton House. Naomi Binder has a classic movie star quality."
