Business is good at Alcovy Fitness and Wellness, and the local gym and pool facility is expanding its programs, as it began offering T’ai chi and ballroom dancing courses this month.

Sales Manager Chris Reisinger said the company met its goal when it opened and has exceeded its goal every month. Co-owner Pam Stillerman previously said she hoped to have 3,000 members.

“Everything is great. It’s been very successful so far; we’re right on schedule for where we thought we would be,” Reisinger said Thursday.

He said the Zumba dance workout and BODYPUMP light weights workout have been some of the most popular classes. Alcovy Fitness also offers three water classes, including Aqua Gold, WaterWorks and PowerSplash, as well as 11 other group classes, including 20-20-20, cycling, Fitness Gold, line dancing, mat pilates, step and yoga.

The new ballroom dancing class is open to even non-members, and costs $40 per couple and $25 for a single person per month. The class meet every Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Stillerman will be doing a Zumba demonstration at The Covington News’ Health and Fitness Expo at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The expo is from noon to 4 p.m. at the Newton College and Career Academy.

The basic membership cost for Alcovy Fitness is $9.95 per month, which just pays for the use of workout equipment.
Each extra amenity costs an additional $10 per month. Group fitness classes and pool use each count as one amenity.
