A Covington woman remains jailed after reportedly trying to alter a criminal background check form Tuesday.
Carmen Denise Neal, 44, reportedly visited the Newton County Sheriff’s Office for a background check that an employer required. When she turned in her background check to Brown Bridge Academy, the employer contacted the NCSO because she felt the background check paperwork looked odd, according to NCSO Public Information Officer Cortney Morrison.
The NCSO administrative technician had the employer fax her the background check, and according to Morrison, the tech saw that Neal had changed the background check to say she had no previous criminal history, and also forged the administrative technician’s signature.
When investigators went to Neal’s home, they allegedly saw evidence in plain view that implicated her in the forgery. She was arrested and charged with two counts of forgery in the first degree
