Local defense attorney Stephanie R. Lindsey has announced her plans to run for superior court judge of the Alcovy Judicial Circuit.

Lindsey will run against Chief Superior Court Judge John Ott, who has sat on the bench since 1990 and was district attorney prior to that. Ott has confirmed that he does intend to run again this year.

“It has long been my goal to become a judge,” said Lindsey on her website. “After great deliberation, I have concluded that now is the time.”

She graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and attended John Marshall Law School afterward. In 2000 she formed The Lindsey Firm, P.C. She practices personal injury, family law and criminal law in the state and is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, DeKalb Bar Association, Newton Bar Association, Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and New Rock Legal Society.

She and her husband Christopher have been residents of Newton County for more than 13 years. They have four children.
