ATHENS - The family of 15-year-old Jose Antonio "Tony" Rivera is donating the organs of the teen, who died after an accidental shooting left a pellet lodged in his brain.

Rivera, of Clarke County, and two friends were shooting at empty cans at a mobile home park in Oconee County on Monday when a pellet struck his right temple. Doctors declared him brain dead on Wednesday

Family members say they don't blame the other boys. His mother, Tamara Allen, says the boys helped him to a house, where a friend's mother performed CPR before an ambulance arrived.

Lee Weems, chief deputy of the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, says investigators believe the shooting was accidental but are continuing to review the circumstances.

Rivera was a student at Clarke Central High School.
