LAGRANGE - Troup County sheriff's deputies are investigating five predawn house fires in the Mountville area north of LaGrange.
Officials say one of the houses damaged Monday morning was occupied. Sheriff Donny Turner says the occupants got out safely.
He says the fires are being investigated as arson.
The first three blazes were within about a mile of each other in Mountville. The other two were north of the community.
The sheriff's office sent out an alert asking residents to report any suspicious or unusual activity.
