  • Army Pvt. C. Forsythe has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Forsythe earned distinction as an honor graduate of the course. He is the son of Lana Forsythe of Covington.
  • Army Reserve Pvt. Marquice S. Geter has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Geter is the grandson of Earline Brown of Covington. The private is a 2007 graduate of Newton High School.
  • Army Pvt. Johnathan D. Freeman has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Valerie Freeman Covington.
  • Army Pvt. Robert C. Odom has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Odom is the grandson of Jo Joyner of Covington.
  • Army Reserve Pvt. Aisha B. Richardson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Phyllis Richardson Covington.
  • Army Pfc. Alexis C. Smith has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Ulanda Jenkins of Jackson, and granddaughter of Obera Jenkins of Covington.
