COVINGTON, Ga. — Showers and thunderstorms are likely for Newton County over the weekend.
The National Weather Service said an eastward-moving cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms into north and middle Georgia late Saturday and into Sunday. Some storms associated with the system could be strong to severe.

The forecast for Saturday calls for partly sunny conditions with highs in the lower 80s. Expect mostly cloudy conditions Saturday night with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Lows will be in the mid-60s.
Showers and thunderstorms will be likely Sunday with temperatures holding steady in the 60s.
Lows Sunday night will fall into the mid-40s.
