The Newton County Sheriff’s Office and Salvation Army are preparing to host their 15th Annual Toy Run Motorcycle Ride. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., Dec. 14 at the Covington Kmart. The cost to participate is $20, or one new, unwrapped toy per bike.

There is no charge for passengers, and one free T-shirt will be awarded for every bike entry. Additional T-shirts will cost $10.

Deputy Cortney Morrison said the Toy Run is open to everyone, and the more participants, the better.

Riders will be escorted by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office throughout the county, ending at The Church of Covington on Hwy 142, where participants can enjoy lunch.

There will be door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and Mr. and Mrs. Claus pictures available for a donation.

All proceeds will be benefit local children at Christmas.

The NCSO is looking for door prizes and local companies to sponsor the toy run, said Morrison.
