After the Thanksgiving goodies are gobbled down and the shopping is done, come relax and celebrate Christmas with Newborn’s second annual Ole’ Tyme Christmas Tree Lighting on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 3 pm. To 6 p.m at the Old School House and Town Hall on Ga. Highway 142 in Newborn.

There’ll be plenty of cookies, hot chocolate and apple cider to keep everyone warm.

Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and the elves will make a guest appearance from 3 p.m. to have their pictures taken.

Parents can shop for special ornaments, or enter the cookie contest.

Amy Young, the winner of the Teen Miss Middle Georgia pageant, will also be on hand to meet people.

The afternoon is capped with the lighting of the Christmas tree at 6 p.m. on North Johnson Street. There’ll be plenty of fun, music, laughter and singing in this new, "ole’ tyme" tradition, so join the fun.
