Walkers and runners will be raising money for the Damascus Road Recovery, Inc., a nonprofit long-term residential recovery program for men suffering from dependence on drugs and alcohol in Newton County.

The 4.4 mile charity run beings at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, at the Alcovy United Methodist Church, 12521 Alcovy Road, Covington. According to Sandra Hodges, who started the annual charity run three years ago, between 75 to 100 people run or walk the course.

The run travels Alcovy Road and Old Alcovy Road with a turnaround at Lake Varner. First aid and water stations will be located at the church and turnaround, and first responders will be on hand in case of emergencies.
