Because of the unusually cold weather, the opening of the Covington Municipal Airport has once again been pushed back. The airport was scheduled to be open by today, but Horton said the airport won’t be open until Jan. 22 at the earliest. He said the city, Dixie Jet, the DOT, the engineering firm PBS&J and Pittman Construction will discuss the possibility of partially opening the airport and runway. The airport has been closed since late September for runway reconstruction and other rehabilitation.
