All Newton County School system after-school activities have been cancelled for Friday due to expected inclement weather.

The school system also announced that it has cancelled activities for Saturday as well, including athletic events, practices and field trips.

The SAT scheduled for Saturday in Rockdale County has also been cancelled.

Also due to the weather, Georgia State's Newton Campus will close at noon Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Newton Conty, with gusty winds and flooding potential across north Georgia Friday and Friday evening.

Heavy rain is expected to occur across north and central Georgia Friday, which could cause flooding.
