Action Ministries offers training for Smart Lunch Smart Kid program
CovingtonAcademy
Covington Academy's K-Kids Club, grades 2 through 5, decorated 100 lunch bags for Action Ministries' Smart Lunch, Smart Kid program. K-Kids is part of the Covington Kiwanis family, and is sponsored by Steve Reagan.

With the school year coming to an end, the Smart Lunch Smart Kid program is setting up sites throughout the county. So far, lunch sites are being set up in downtown Porterdale, at Covington Mill United Methodist Church and Allen Memorial United Methodist Church in Oxford. A mobile unite will serve at least one mobile trailer park on Highway 36, and Action Ministries is partnering with the summer feeding program at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

A training and informational meeting about Action Ministries’ Smart Lunch, Smart Kid program is scheduled for Thursday, May 19, at the Action Ministries Office, 2160 Church Street in Covington at 6:30 p.m. The program partners with businesses, municipalities, law enforcement, churches and others to provide lunches for students during the summer. Wednesday, June 1 through Thursday, July 28. For more information, contact Tamara Richardson, Regional Director, Piedmont Region, at trichardson@actionministries.net.

Those interested in volunteering to make or deliver lunches should contact Elizabeth Holcombe, Smart Lunch Smart Kid Coordinator at eholcombe@actionministries.net.
