Newton County and Covington officials have been hard at work since opening its emergency operations center Tuesday.
They released on the 911 Facebook page that they received 649 calls, 461 to 911 and 585 to non-emergency lines. Here is a list of some of their calls

CLOSINGS and OPENINGS for Friday:
• Newton County Schools (most school staff must report at 10 a.m.)
• Newton County Government offices will open at 10 a.m.
• The Covington Family Y will be open from 5:30 a.m. until 7 p.m.
