Spring fever has hit, and we’re only weeks away from the long days of summer.

If you’re ready to head to Six Flags or White Water, get the best deal on tickets by visiting the 4-H office.

Six Flags tickets are only $38 for day passes and $64 for season passes.

White Water season passes are $54, with day passes at $32.

Prices on tickets are cash only. No additional taxes or fees will be added.

Season pass purchases include the same benefits and coupons as with passes purchased at the park.

Your ticket purchase with Newton 4-H saves you money and supports your local 4-H program. Call ahead for large quantities at 770-784-2010.

We are located on the second floor of the Newton County Administration building, just above the tag and tax offices.

The office is open from 8 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 5 p.m., Monday–Friday at 1113 Usher Street, Covington.

If purchased online, a Six Flags season pass with taxes and fees runs $75.24. A single day pass is $45.56.

White Water prices online are $69.94 for a season pass and $43.44 for a day pass.

While you’re in the office, sign up the kids for summer camp!

If your child turned nine or older in 2012, he or she is old enough to head to 4-H summer camp for five days and four nights of fun, education, friends, recreation and more. Hurry in with your $100 non-refundable cash deposit, because spaces are filling up.

Camps are also available for middle and high school students.

You do not have to be a 4-H member or a local resident to attend camps — please call if you have any questions. Camps are open to home, private and public school students.

For youth at least 9 years old (must have turned 9 or older in 2012) and no older than the sixth grade, we head to Rock Eagle 4-H Center for Cloverleaf Camp on July 8-12.

Youths participate in campfires, Indian lore, dances, swimming, herpetology, ecology and the ever popular wet games.

The total cost for Cloverleaf Camp is $300, and includes transportation, insurance, lodging, UGA screened and certified chaperones and all activities.

Junior Camp at Fortson 4-H Center in Hampton, is June 24-28 for seventh and eighth grade students.

For only $322, these 4-H’ers will meet new friends, experience recreation and the high ropes course, swim at White Water, explore Stone Mountain Park, and cheer on the races at Thursday Night Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

A second option for seventh and eighth graders is Marine Resources Camp at Jekyll Island 4-H Center on July 8-12.

Youths will dance, play games, take a marsh walk, visit Cumberland Island, take a ride on the Lady Jane shrimp boat, swim at Summer Waves water park, ride bicycles in Millionaire’s Village and enjoy a special seafood dinner.

The cost for Marine Resources Camp is $332, plus an optional $50 for transportation.

Current high school students are invited to Senior Extreme Camp on June 10-14 at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.

This all-new camp is being offered for those looking for adventure, including a canoeing and fishing trip down the Ocmulgee River, shooting at Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center, and a high ropes challenge at Georgia College and State University.

Campers will sleep at Frank Fitch Pioneer Camp located at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.

The cost is $301 with transportation.

Finally, Senior Camp “Jekyll Island Style” is July 1-5 at Jekyll Island 4-H Center.

For only $312, high school students will join 250 new friends for a week on the beach. Transportation is available for $50.

Celebrate July 4 with dinner, dancing and a talent show at the new Jekyll Island Convention Center followed by fireworks on the beach!
