BUFORD, Ga. (AP) — Police say the same bullet that a woman used to kill herself accidentally struck and wounded a park ranger.
Gwinnett County police say the bullet traveled through the window of a truck and then struck the ranger in the stomach.
D.P. Wright, a 70-year-old ranger for the Army Corps of Engineers at Lower Buford Dam Park, was shot the night of June 26 when he went to tell a 34-year-old woman sitting in truck that the park was closed.
Gwinnett County police Cpl. Jake Smith says investigators believe only one shot was fired because one shot was heard and a single shell casing was found.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Monday that Wright's family expects him to be discharged from the hospital sometime this week.
