COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) — One of Georgia's largest school systems is set to discuss a security plan that includes equipping schools with panic buttons.

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports (http://bit.ly/ZhEjYt) that the Muscogee County School Board is set to discuss the plan during a work session Monday evening.

The district's security task force designed the five-year plan with input from local emergency agencies, school leaders, teachers, parents and others in the community.

It calls for the creation of a safety coordinator position and a security incident command center housed in the public education center.

School radios and special uniforms for maintenance, custodial and security employees are also part of the plan. Security cameras and locks on classroom doors also are addressed.

The school system is in the Columbus area, near the Georgia-Alabama line.
