RINGGOLD, Ga. (AP) — State fire officials say a mother and her young son were both killed when an early morning fire swept through their home in the northwest Georgia town of Ringgold.
Glenn Allen, a spokesman for Georgia Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens, says firefighters were called to the home around 12:38 a.m. Thursday.
Autopsies were planned on the bodies of the woman and the boy who died.
Allen said early Thursday that the fire did not appear suspicious at this time. He said the blaze appears to have started in the garage area of the home. The exact cause wasn't known early Thursday.
Ringgold is about 15 miles southeast of Chattanooga, Tenn.
