VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) — Sheriff's officials in south Georgia say 27 dogs have been rescued from a dogfighting ring.

Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine told WALB-TV  investigators busted a dogfighting ring late last week and recovered treadmills, a large trailer used to transport dogs, training equipment and dog medicine.

Authorities also found drugs and say the dogs are being cared for by animal welfare advocates.
