COVINGTON, Ga. — Thousands of spectators flooded the Square and lined city streets Monday for Covington's annual Independence Day celebration.

Despite seeing a couple of storm cells sweep across the area, the Monday festivities could not be dampened.

After a day filled with food, live music and yard games of fun, a fireworks show — renowned as one of the best all across the Southeast — began at approximately 9:45 p.m.
