Rotary Club gives $500 to end Polio

The Rotary Club of Covington hosted District Governor William E. Strickland III at its weekly meeting Tuesday.

Born and raised in Cartersville, Strickland has been in Rotary since 1995 and has served as community service chair, president elect, president, district chair for community service, governor’s special representative to start the Rotary Club of Etowah, district membershipa chair and co-chair for club extensions, assistant governor, major gifts and permanent fund chair, district training advisor, club extensions chair, and two terms as three-year termed Georgia Rotary Student Program trustee.

Not only active in his community, Strickland has also been active in helping various Rotary projects, including Rotary International’s End Polio campaign. Since 1979 Rotary International has helped to reduce polio cases by 99 percent.
