Willie and Bertha Tate of Covington announce the engagement of their daughter Kanetrius La "Shay" Tate to Vejaye Jamil Johnson of Covington, son of Vanessa Nolley of Covington and Vince Johnson III of Jonesboro.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Frances Tate and Mrs. Mittie Dyer and a graduate of Newton High School. She is employed by Home Depot, Covington.

The future groom is the grandson of the late L.C. and Nellie Mae Nolley of Atlanta. He is a graduate of Eastside High School and is employed by Ordin of Covington.

The wedding is planned for Sept. 18 in Destin, Fla.
