Local attorney Shannon Sneed has announced his intention to seek the office of Probate Judge of Newton County.
He is running to replace Judge Henry Baker, who is retiring Dec. 31.

Sneed has been an attorney for 25 years, and worked as a paralegal for his father's law firm for 10 years before that. His practice areas include wills, probate, adoption, real estate and bankruptcy.

Sneed is also active in the community, having served in the Kiwanis Club of Covington, as a Board member for Newton Reads, as a volunteer attorney with the Truancy Intervention program of the Newton County Juvenile Court, as Regional Coordinator for the High School Mock Trial competitions held in Covington, and as a Board of Review member for the Boy Scouts.

“I am looking forward to making good use of the experience I’ve gained in the practice of law by serving the citizens of Newton County as Judge of the Probate Court,” Sneed said.
