Welcome to the Weekend March 20-22

The joys of homework. Most of us remember homework as children. When I was a kid, I got off the bus, enjoyed a Little Debbie Oatmeal Pie, watched an episode of Scooby-Doo and got to work. I didn’t mind homework too much, but math word problems were the bane of my childhood existence. “If Sally drives North at 45 mph and Johnny drives South at 75 mph, when will their best friend David get to Dairy Queen?” Seriously? I didn’t have time for such questions. I had bikes to ride and creeks to walk before dinner! Today it seems like homework, special projects and yes, those wonderful math world problems have taken over our kids’ afternoons. But alas there is hope! This weekend is overflowing with events for children and much-needed relief from the homework blues. So get your Griswold on, pack the family in the station wagon, and head out to one of these fun, spring events!

Close to home, the amazing Asante Children’s Choir is performing at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Conyers. Performing African and American worship music, African Folk Songs, drum music and vibrant dance, these children from East Africa will inspire you with their bright smiles and joy! For another fun and educational event, dress your kids up as their favorite Super and head over to the Children’s Museum of Atlanta for Superhero Science Saturday. For the younger children in your world, Sugarloaf Mills is hosting the Easter Eggstravaganza with Easter themed games, crafts and activities. When the kids are tuckered out and the grown-ups need some fun, the 6th Annual Beer Carnival at Atlantic Station is waiting with craft beers, food trucks, rides, games and music.
