Where is your heart? When we say the pledge to the flag of the United States, we place our hand over our heart on the left side of our chest, is that where our heart is?
Science places our heart more in the middle of our chest, is that where your heart is? Of course some would say to their spouse, “you have my heart.” Is that where their heart is? Or a grandparent may claim a child is there heart, is that where their heart is? The loss of a loved one is often said to “take our heart,” is that where that heart is?
Or our hearts may weaken or fail is our finances fail or we experience loss, is that where our heart is?
The answer to all the above is summed up in Jesus pointed statement: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Lk. 12:34) Whatever we set our heart upon, make our priority, focus our thoughts and attention on, give our energy to, set our affections on, that is where our heart is. So where should our hearts be? Jesus answered that question too: “But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. “(Lk. 12:31) Where is your heart today?
