Jesus. Jesus. You say it. Say it again. Say it out loud and repeat His name several times. The old Gaither song is right, there is just something about that name. “Master, Savior, like the springtime after the rain…” It is the name we call upon for salvation. It is the name we call upon for cleansing of sin. It is the name we call upon in times of fear. And it is the name we call upon to strengthen our faith. Jesus knows our deepest secrets, He knows our greatest struggles, He knows the things that shake our foundation, and He knows our name. What it must have been like for the disciples on that boat. One minute the sky and sea seemed calm, the next a storm swooped down and they were in fear for their lives as Jesus slept on board. When they had lost confidence, struggled all they could, were lost for solutions and convinced this was the end they called out to Jesus; “saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.” Then came the probing question: “Where is your faith?” He asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.” (Lk. 8:24-25) The answer: It is Jesus! As you go through the day today don’t forget, there really is something so special about that name, and more importantly about your relationship to the one to whom that name belongs.
