Just a Thought: God’s Word, prophetic or otherwise, is a clear and present reminder to us that He has all things under control. He has a plan both for our lives and all of eternity. There is to be a balance between knowing and studying what will one day happen with what we ought to do about today.
For those who know Christ and have come into His salvation we have a future hope. An eternal destiny with God in the midst of us and we inhabiting His city. But today, we have work to do. While we wait for that future hope to come to pass, we have those around us who are being impacted by our current conduct.
Our testimony’s are under review, our witnesses are bearing fruit (good and bad) and we are to be accountable for how we live here and now — before we get there then. Listen to Jesus explain: “Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don't know how to interpret this present time? Why don't you judge for yourselves what is right? As you are going with your adversary to the magistrate, try hard to be reconciled to him on the way, or he may drag you off to the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison. I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny." (Luke 12:56-59)
Interpretation: Don’t forget your life here and now has impact that your life there and then won’t. Don’t be so heavenly minded, lest you forget to be of some earthly good.
