* The C-Town Music Collaborative will play live at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18 at Milazzo's Ristorante, 4167 Raphael St. Covington (Clark's Grove subdivision) .

It's the third Thursday of the month, so it's time for another installment of live music at Milazzo's. Multiple artists come together for this one in the form of various duos and trios. In the spirit of full disclosure, I'm actively involved with this project.
The line-up for this one will include: McCart & McCart — me and my lovely bride doing some jazzy stuff; The Enduring Chill — a duo of the Professor, Adrianne Ivey, and myself; Idylls — Brad Parker and Rebecca Bates; and to close it out will be BPM (Bates, Parker & McCart). A lot of this is more of the esoteric folk and Americana stuff. It’s a very smooth and laid back performance. And I just love Milazzo's. Christina, the proprietor, is just a marvelous Lady. The wait staff is simply fabulous, and the food is divine. You've got to try the stuffed mushrooms, they’re life-changing.

*Justin Huff will play live Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Sycamore St. Pizzeria, 198 E. Sycamore St. Social Circle 30025.

Justin is another up-and-coming country fella that we have in our neck of the woods and he seems to be impressing everybody with his voice, stage presence and look. C-town (Covington) is cranking out some legit country talent, y'all. Just look at Dustin Bragg, Gannon Adams, Drew Parker and some of these others that are doing so well.
Again, like I said last week, there just seems to be something in the water. And by all accounts, this Sycamore crowd seems to be putting out some good food and have created a pretty cool bar and music venue.

Located next to the Methodist Church right in the heart of the historical North Covington community, these guys are neighbors to us, and they are, by all accounts, putting out some killer coffee and have created quite a little special place. Very family friendly, Common Ground, in addition to being a coffee house and hang-out spot, is also becoming a legitimate music venue as well. They've had several acoustic performers play since they've opened and are planning on having many, many more.
While they have limited hours during the week, they are open mid-day and then from 5-9 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and they are open all day on Saturdays. From what I can gather, Common Ground is having music on one or more of those nights, so just call or look them up on Facebook to get more info.

Hannah Thomas

Hannah's sound has been described as Americana and Alt-Country but with Rock and Punk sensibilities. I've known Hannah (hannahthomasband.com - also on FB and Twitter)
for about seven years, and I can tell you this — she is supremely talented, a wonderful person and a beautiful girl. She has played and recorded with Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls and has released several of her own albums as well.
Over the years, she's been hitting Nashville pretty hard and has played up and down the Eastern Seaboard and the Southeast music circuit. She has won several awards and has been covered by multiple media outlets and magazines.
This lady has it, and I think we're going to be seeing great things from her. She'll usually play at least one or two local shows a year, so I'll keep you posted on that. A few years back she came to see a Sweet Harmony show and afterwards she said something about how she wished she could have a sound like ours. I said, girl, you got your own sound, and it's magnificent!
You might say that Hannah and I are proud members of a Mutual Admiration Society. I got a chance to interview her for a radio show I was doing a few years back, and I got to learn a lot about her, her influences, and her artistry. She really is something special. Again, C-town, baby! There is definitely something in the water.
