Covington resident James (Tim) Walden Sr. will be inducted into the Independent Country Music Hall fo Fame Sept. 17 during the Josie Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. He will be one of three inducted this year.

Walden is also nominated for Country Gospel Artist of the Year and Country Gospel Song of the Year for his song “Sometimes God Sends a Song,” which he wrote and recorded in honor of his last conversation with his friend and musical idol George Jones.

Walden will also induct Allen Frizzel and Carolina Rose into the Independent Country Gospel Bluegrass Music Association’s Hall of Fame.

Walden, who serves as the chaplain Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) and works as a pastor at a local church, has had a passion since his grandfather, Nat Walden, gave him his first guitar.

He has played with the likes of George Jones, Merle Haggard, Jim Ed Brown, The Freemans and so many more.

Walden has a record deal with Echota Records and received a commendation from Governor Nathan Deal earlier this month.
