On May 2, Chimney Park will host visitors to the annual Fairy House Festival from 2pm to 5pm. For this one special Saturday in May, the park will host hundreds of fairies, elves, gnomes, and other special creatures to our park where we will have fun activities including the Bubbleman, face painters, a wishing tree, rock painting, a scavenger hunt, fairy wing making, archery, and the Charlie Elliott Birds of Prey. Admission cost is $5 per person; children 2 and under are free.
A love of nature is evident in the “Park with a Heart” behind the Newton County Library on Floyd Street. The vision for Chimney Park is to create a peaceful urban woodland that attracts children and adults of all ages and abilities with community activities and elements that encourage passive play, exploration, imagination, quiet contemplation and respect for nature and history.

Everyone is invited to make a fairy house – either as a group or on your own. Fairy houses are constructed from the imagination of children (of all ages) using natural materials one can find in a backyard, garden, or woodlands. All houses must be delivered to Chimney Park no later than 12noon on May 2. These houses become more than a project in natural art – they become magical.

Come out on May 2 with your friends and family, old and young, and experience the magic of Fairy Houses at Chimney Park.

Friends of Newton park is a 501c(3) organization, formed to turn this dream into reality, and is working with the Newton County Parks and Recreation Commission toward the national goal of No Child Left Inside.

Chimney Park now holds two signature fundraising events designed to introduce more people to the site and to the hopes for her future. In addition to the annual Fairy Houses in May, it also hosts “Twilights at Chimney Park” in December, where thousands of lights and the squeals of children warm a cold afternoon, featuring Santa and cider, carolers and storytellers.
