With the cooler weather in recent days, Mother Nature seems to be sending a reminder: If the dog days of summer come, can more soothing September be far behind?

In that vein, the Arts Association in Newton County is again offering its September Noon Concerts on the Square series.

Every September Thursday at noon, a free concert will be staged on the square, and this year’s lineup will appeal to a variety of musical tastes.

Here’s the schedule:

Sept. 5 – Stephen Wilson Brass Quintet

Sept. 12 – Lou Van Dora with ‘70s and ‘80s soft rock

Sept. 19 – Johnny Roquemore & the Apostles of Bluegrass

Sept. 26 – Daniel Jackson Band (smooth jazz)

In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held at the Turner Lake Recreation Complex.
