COVINGTON, Ga. - Local churches are planning special services for Holy Week and Easter Sunday.

The following schedule has been provided to The Covington News:

  • Maundy Thursday, 6 p.m. at Allen Memorial
  • Good Friday, 12:15 p.m. at Oxford Chapel
  • Eastern sunrise service, 7 a.m.
  • Easter worship service, 11 a.m.

Covington First United Methodist Church, 1113 Conyers St. SW (The Rev. Dr. Doug Gilreath, senior pastor)

  • Maundy Thursday service, 7 p.m. (sanctuary)
  • Good Friday service, 7 p.m. (sanctuary)
  • Easter sunrise service, 7 a.m. (Wesley Chapel lawn)
  • Easter traditional service, 8:30 and 11 a.m. (sanctuary)
  • Easter contemporary worship, 11 a.m. (Wesley Chapel)

A series of Holy Week lunchtime services will continue Wednesday through Friday at First United Methodist Church. Guest speakers include the Rev. Dr. Cody McNutt of First Baptist Church on Wednesday, the Rev. Joshua Roberts of Allen Memorial Chapel United Methodist Church on Thursday and the Rev. Dr. Billy Wade of First Presbyterian Church on Friday. Services begin at noon each day.
