On Monday an employee of the Pure Gas Station on U.S. Highway 278 reported someone had stolen a gun from the business sometime between noon and 1 p.m. last Thursday.

The employee told Covington Police Officer Allen Martin the 9mm Luger High Point handgun was lying on a desk in the building. He valued the gun at $150 and provided the serial number of P1276838.

Martin wrote in the incident report that the employee identified two individuals who had access to the gun at the time.

Also on Monday, another person reported someone had stolen his gun from his truck while parked in the parking deck at Newton Medical Center.

At approximately 4:10 p.m. the complainant returned to his truck and discovered the doors unlocked. He stated to Covington Police Officer Oscar Rogers that he remembered locking them around 2:30 p.m. that day.

He found the glove compartment hanging open and discovered his 9mm Highlear Arm TA 90 handgun, housing a 15-round magazine, was missing.

Roger's report details show the gun is black in color, but the serial number was unknown.
