Two Hy-Line employees were robbed at gunpoint earlier this week while they sat in a delivery truck in the company parking lot located at 4432 County Road 213 in Newborn.

Newton County Sheriff's Office Lt. Bill Watterson said the two victims were looking over some paperwork in the company vehicle Monday at approximately 7:45 p.m. when the perpetrator snatched open the driver's side door.

"They were instructed not to look at him or he would shoot," Watterson said.

The suspect then reportedly ordered the driver out of the truck and to the ground before asking, "Where is the money?" The driver handed over his wallet and was then told to stay on the ground.

The passenger was similarly removed from the truck and robbed. After taking both men's money, totally $451, the robber reportedly ordered the men to stay face down on the ground or he would shoot.

Watterson said the robber left on foot. Because of the threats and fear for their safety, the victims could not give investigators a detailed description of the suspect expect that he was wearing all black clothes and a black mask. They also suspected the man was older and black based on his voice, but they could not be sure, Watterson said.

A canvas of the area revealed one of the victims' wallets which had been discarded after the robber had removed the money.
