Troy Moon, 89, of Oxford, died July 14. The son of the late James Thomas Moon and Allie Beck Piper Moon, he was born in Rockdale County in 1919. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Leona Hawk Moon. Mr. Moon proudly served his country as staff sergeant in the United States Army during World War II.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Lynn and Sara Moon of Oxford; sisters Helen McCullough of Conyers, Jeanette Wright of Perry; grandchildren Holly Boss, Charlotte Ellis, Kelli Hicks; nine great-grandchildren; caregiver Janice Womac.

Funeral services were held July 16 at Walnut Grove Methodist church with the Rev. Jamie Hudgins and the Rev. Vester Maughon officiating. Interment followed at Walnut Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.
