Twenty-one Covington YMCA swimmers qualified for the state meet last weekend during the District 6 Championships in Macon.
The local swimmers helped the team place among the top three in district.
They will compete at the state meet July 25 and 26 in Augusta.
The following include the swimmers who qualified for the state championships:
7-8 girls: Jade Mcpike, 25 back, 100 individual medley; Katie Cole, 50 free, 25 free; Emie Gibbs, 25 back, 25 free.
7-8 boys: Brooks Benton, 50 free, 25 back; Cody Brooks, 25 fly, 100 IM.
9-10 girls: Adoris Gibbs, 50 free, 25 free; Kemaya Tucker, 50 free, 25 fly.
11-12 girls: Heather Stanley, 50 breast; Brianna Smith, 50 back; Jessica Lustenberger, relays.
11-12 boys: Jack Mitchell, 50 back, 100 free; Matt Mitchell, 50 breast, 100 IM; Hartley Oglesby, 50 fly, 50 free; Alex Jones, 50 breast.
13-14 girls: Brittany Owens, 100 free, 100 IM.
13-14 boys: Joey Ellwanger, 50 fly, 100 free; Robbie Ellwanger, 50 breast, 100 IM; Matt Tibbetts, 100 IM, 50 breast; Josh Brooks, 50 back, 50 free; Josh Lustenberger, 50 free.
15-18 girls: Shelby Gaddis, 50 free, 50 fly.
15-18 boys: Drew Ellwanger, 50 breast, 100 IM.
Many of the YMCA swimmers, including several favored to win a state title, are also on the relay squads for the Rockdale County state team.
State practices are currently held at Milstead Pool in Conyers.
Gregg Ellwanger is the head coach for the Rockdale state team.
Last month, the Covington YMCA team won the Rockdale swim league championships with 757 points.
It was the first time a team from outside Rockdale County has won the title.
