Stanley Henderson

Mr. Stanley Henderson, 65, of Mansfield, died Jan. 24. The son of the late Troy L. and Ludie Thomason Henderson, he was born in Jasper County in 1942. He was a lifelong resident of the Mansfield area, a member of the Newborn United Methodist Church, a member of the Tree Board in Newborn and served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War. Mr. Henderson also served as County Commissioner in Jasper County and worked as a loader operator for many years. He built most of the lakes and ponds that are located on what is now the Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center.

Surviving are sisters and brothers-in-law Katherine H. Rogers, Eatonton, Sybil H. Hill, Fayetteville, Frances H. Hester, Eatonton, Marie H. Cowan, Covington, Elise H. and Wilson Banks, Mansfield, Linda and Douglas Banks, Mansfield; sister-in-law Mickey Rodgers, Covington; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; a host of other family and close friends.

Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Gregory officiating. Interment will follow at Carmel Cemetery, Mansfield.
