Ms. Sheila Davis Vinson died June 24. The daughter of the late Lelia Lawrence Davis, she was born in Newton County in 1963. After the death of her mother in 1964, Ms. Vinson was raised by her grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. L.C. (Marie) Lawrence Sr. and by her aunt Lottie whom she affectionately called "Sis." She was educated in Newton County. She joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor H.H. Dyer. She was employed at Bibb Manufacturing and later by Golden State Foods in Conyers. She enjoyed shopping, attending gospel concerts and planning and attending family outings. Ms. Vinson was quiet and soft-spoken with a warm, friendly disposition. She loved to laugh, even throughout her illness. She was preceded in death by sister Teressa Davis.

Surviving are sons Scotty Davis, Ashton O'Bryant Vinson, Zion Heard; grandsons Jalen and Elijah Davis; devoted aunt Lottie (Eugene) Gaither; sisters Juanita (James) Nolley, Janice Davis, Loretta (Willie) Cosby; aunt Mary Perry; uncles I.C. (Rita) Lawrence Jr., Wilbur Lawrence; loving and devoted friend Jake Heard; special friends Fannie Cannon, Linda and Pam; 13 nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, June 30, at Missionary Baptist Church, with pastor Carlton Mathis and the Rev. H.K. Benton Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Bara Baptist Church Cemetery.
