Sarah Elizabeth Hardeman Grant

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Hardeman Grant died June 15. The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnny (Ollie Thompson) Hardeman, she was born in 1933 in Covington. Growing up in Newton County, she attended public schools and joined Early Hope Baptist Church at an early age. She later moved her membership to Rock Springs Baptist Church in Henry County, where she served faithfully on the mother Board. She was married to Mr. Rufus Lee Grant who died June 23. Mrs. Grant was preceded in death by siblings Margaret Moody, Buck Vine and Robert, Marvin and Curtis Hardeman.

Surviving are children Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Angela) Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Harold (Melinda) Parks III, Michael and Marlon Grant; grandchildren Gregory Tuggle Jr., Takeita Tuggle Bell, Timothy Parks, Jamal Jeffries; brothers Mr. and Mrs. Rylie (Sara) Hardeman, Mr. Wayne Hardeman; sisters Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo (Johnnie) Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. Mel (Annie) Mitchell, Ms. Peggy Huckabee; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. June 18 in the chapel of Lester Lackey funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Smith officiating. Interment followed in New Covington Cemetery.
