Mr. Samuel "Buddy" Kirkus Jr., 80, a lifelong resident of Newton County died Nov. 21. He was born on May 7, 1927 to the late Samuel Tucker Kirkus Sr. and Elizabeth Barker Kirkus. Mr. Kirkus proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was retired from C.R. Bard where he worked in the shipping department and he was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He greatly enjoyed fishing in his spare time. Mr. Kirkus is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Barbara Sams Kirkus.

He is survived by son Michael Kirkus of Covington Wade; daughter Donna Williams of Barnesville; son Wade Faulkner of Barnesville; sister Ann Lawless of Covington; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and numerous other family and close friends.

The family received friends at Wheeler Funeral Home Saturday, Nov. 24. The funeral service followed in the chapel. Internment was at Lawnwood Memorial Park.
