Covington Mayor Sam Ramsey was briefly hospitalized Sunday night after he returned from Anaheim, Calif., where he and other city officials vied for the All-America City status.
"I had been battling bronchitis the whole time out there, and I was taking an antibiotic, but it wasn't hitting it," Ramsey said.
After being passed over for All-America honors, Ramsey and the other members of the Covington delegation flew back to Atlanta. He then checked into Emory Medical Center for an intravenous treatment.
Doctors released Ramsey Monday morning. He said he feels better but will take it easy this week.
Raised in Newton County, Ramsey has spent more than 30 years serving the city. He was elected mayor in 1998.
